We are now deep in the AL season, and there are lots of great swag and awards up for grabs. The 20" district title is still any ones for the taking (good luck knocking me out of the cruiser title). Who wants that cool #1 plate to run for next season? And don't forget about the sweet jacket. Top 10% in AL will get ABA district jackets. We are also zeroing in on the State Championship with a qualifier in August and Championship race in September. You could walk away with a State plate and last year #1 in each class got a cool backpack.  I would love to see these awards go to Weaver riders. Some other year end awards up for grabs to Weaver riders will include, most improved, pilots license (most air time), best crash, dirt tech (most hours working on the track) highest bunny hop and fastest lap. These cool shout outs will be in the form of custom Team Underachiever number plates given out at the start of the 2011 season.

Please send your email address to ABAWeaverBMX@AOL.com, we are working on our mailing list to keep everyone up to date.

Weaver BMX would like to thank the City of Weaver for all their support in getting BMX racing in the area. Mayor Garry Bearden, Mike Howard, Scott Agan, and the rest of the city employees, we could not have done it without all your hard work and support. We are excited to bring BMX racing into Weaver and introduce hundreds of new people from all over to the City of Weaver!

We are going to be racing on a regular basis and the schedule is posted up on this site (check the schedule page).  Anyone can race BMX, no one sits the bench, classes are available for all age, skill level, and gender. The fees for racing are, $45 for a full membership license or you can get a trial 30 day license for $25, and there is a 1 day trial membership, the license fee, along with race entry fee of $10.00. So, come out and get started in BMX racing.  BMX is one of the newest sports in the Olympics and is growing in the U.S.A.  The American Bicycles Association (ABA)  is the sanctioning body for Weaver BMX, for more information on the ABA, check out  www.ABABMX.com or you can email us at ABAWeaverBMX@aol.com

Start Racing ABA BMX @ WEAVER BMX

Getting started in BMX is easy and the ABA has put this page together in order to help:

The first things you need:

  • A bicycle - any BMX type and size will do, but it is recommended that you start with one that has no more than a 20" wheel diameter - as that is the allowable limit in the Novice class.
  • The location of an ABA track. Visit our online TRACK DIRECTORY to find the location closest to you.

When calling your nearest ABA track, you`ll need to want to ask six questions:

  • How do I get to your track?
  • Do you have a Beginner Day or clinics available for new riders?
  • What time are your sign-up and practice times?
  • What time do you begin racing?
  • How much will it cost to begin racing?
  • How big are your first place trophies?

Once you have your bike, the location of the nearest ABA track, and when they run, there are two simple checklists to follow.

Your Bike:

  • Make sure all bolts are tight - especially your axle and stem bolts.
  • Remove any freestyle type axle pegs.
  • All reflectors/brackets must be removed for safety purposes.
  • If your bike has a kickstand, it must be taken off.
  • You will eventually need a numberplate. You will be provided a temporary numberplate with your membership purchase.

Clothing and safety equipment:

  • Long sleeve shirt.
  • Long pants or jeans.
  • A helmet. The ABA recommends a full-face helmet. Many ABA tracks have "loaner helmets" for beginners to use.
  • Any enclosed shoe is sufficient. Skateboard style shoes are suggested.

Now that you have everything ready, we`ll see you at the track!
